At 31, he has following credits to his name: Creative Director of DAZED & CONFUSED, Fashion Director of VOGUE HOMMES JAPAN, Senior Fashion Editor of ANOTHER MAN, and Contributing Fashion Editor at V, V MAN, ANOTHER, and ARENA HOMME PLUS. (I mean, what are YOU doing?) Nicola's also half Italian and half Japanese. Bet daddy can coooook!

If you're not following his blog, learn it and learn it well. He posts images from his own work for various clients, as well as images and videos that inspire him, whether it's MTV's Sylissimo coverage of male models, a little Donizetti mad scene shows (make me peeee, why dontcha?), or more recently, images from Nazir Mazhar's gorgeous Fall '09 presentation, which he co-styled.




Fall is months away, but this has already got me thinking about Spring/Summer looks. Can we try skin this season? Just skiiiiiin (yes, Paul, even "not sunkissed"! Fully visible or just peeking out for play. And briefs! Briefs all the way on display! I'm for sure going to live in this Romain Kremer look, also styled by Nicola.

The snap can be as emotionally and politically charged as a clenched fist, can punctuate debate and dialogue like an exclamation point, a comma, an ellipse, or altogether negate the need for words among those who are adept at decoding its nuanced meanings.

But the particular appropriation of the snap by Hollywood's Black Pack deflates the gesture into rank caricature. Instead of a symbol of communal expression and, at times, cultural defiance, the snap becomes part of a simplistically reductive Negro faggot indentity: It functions as a mere signpost of effeminate, cute, comic homosexuality.
