IN 2000, GREGG ARAKI WAS APPROACHED BY MTV TO CREATE A MINI SERIES FOR THE NETWORK. THE RESULT WAS, "THIS IS HOW THE WORLD ENDS" THE PILOT EPISODE WAS SHOT ON A BANJEE BUDGET OF $700,000. THE PROJECT WAS NEVER PICKED UP OR AIRED BY MTV.
BEING THE BIGGEST GREGG ARAKI FAN ON THE PLANET, I WAS OBSESSED WITH GETTING MY HANDS ON THIS RARE CINEMATIC TREASURE. I HAVE LITERALLY BEEN SEARCHING FOR IT FOR YEARS TO NO AVAIL AND WAS BEGINNING TO THINK IT WAS SOME SORT OF TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE "ARAKI URBAN LEGEND" THIS WEEKEND MY SEARCH CAME TO AN END AND I SOMEHOW FOUND IT IN A DEEP AND DARK SPACE IN THE WORLD WIDE WEB. AS FAR AS I KNOW IT HAS NEVER BEEN UPLOADED, EVER. CONSIDER THIS THE "PLD WORLD PREMIERE"
